Welcome to Year 2

Hello and welcome to Year 2! My name is Miss Bell and working along side me in our class is Mrs Sperring. Our class is full of enthusiastic learners who are keen to learn about the world and share their thoughts and ideas with each other. In Year 2 we plan lots of creative, cross curricular and hands on activities to support the children’s learning and curiosity. Throughout our time in Year 2 we will display and embody our school values of compassion, respect, creation, perseverance and service.

I hope you all enjoyed your summer holiday and feel refreshed for the year ahead. The children have settled back into school life really well and are looking forward to an exciting year! This term our topic is ‘Rivers, Coasts and Oceans’. In English this half term we are reading the book ‘Granddad’s Island’. Earlier in the week the children found a mysterious looking key with a note. We have been using role-play to predict what we think the key unlocks. We have been very busy learning about adjectives and noun phrases, using them to write a poem. Over these next few weeks, in Geography we will be learning all about the 7 continents. We will be taking part in a world tour, using our passports to collect stamps and learning facts along the way! Mrs Sperring and I are very impressed with all your hard work - Keep it up!
